Fire Burns On Yerba Buena Island Near Bay Bridgehttp://cbs5.com/local/fire.bay.bridge.2.805569.html
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / KCBS / BCN) ― A brush fire burned Thursday afternoon on a hillside on Yerba Buena Island just under the Bay Bridge anchorage at the west end of the tunnel.

Firefighters blocked the right lane on the lower deck and the left lane on the upper deck.

The fire was first reported around 2:10 p.m. and smoke could be seen billowing outside of the west side of the Bay Bridge tunnel.

Fire officials did not immediately know the cause of the brush fire and indicated that the blaze was not threatening any structures or the bridge.

A fire boat was dispatched to put out the flames as crews were unable to reach the site because there are no access roads leading to the bottom of the island where the fire was burning.

California Highway Patrol Officer Marc Johnston said winds were blowing the smoke away from the bridge and that as of 3 p.m., traffic was not backed up.
